FAQ
If you would like to publish on TUDObooks, please consider the following:
What are the requirements for submitting a book or article?
Before you can submit a book or article, you must register and be approved by the administrators.
For already registered users: you can log in here and work through the five ‘steps for submission’.
Which legal aspects have to be considered?
- Obtaining rights of use: Ensure that you own all rights to the uploaded documents (including all images, graphics, etc.) and that you have obtained the rights of all co-authors in the case of multi-author works. You confirm this by signing the ‘Granting of Rights of Use’ (see link to contracts).
- Reusability and use of your texts for readers: For legally compliant reuse, you have to choose a Creative Commons licence. These are legally secure, internationally standardised licences:
This means that all rights remain with you as the author; TUDObooks only receives a simple right of use. We recommend the CC-BY or CC-BY-SA licence.
What should be considered when dealing with artificial intelligence?
If you have generated parts of your work using artificial intelligence, the tools used must be described transparently and in detail – either in a separate section entitled ‘Tools used’ or in the acknowledgements. As the author, you are fully responsible for the accuracy of the parts of the work generated using AI, as well as for information about the tools used.
What technical considerations should be taken into account?
- The digital objects must not contain any security settings such as password protection, and all fonts used should be embedded. It is also advisable to fill in the document properties with information such as author, title and language.
- When filling out the forms for your contribution, please enter as much information as possible, e.g., keywords. Mandatory fields are marked with an *. This information can be changed after you have completed your submission but before publication.
- Please list the contributors to this contribution including their email addresses and ORCID iDs.
How can accessibility be ensured?
Text documents should be published in an accessible, platform-independent format such as PDF (ideally PDF/UA). Adobe Acrobat Pro software is required to convert LaTeX to PDF/UA. TU Dortmund University has a campus license for Adobe Pro, which you can obtain from the service portal. Please note the regulations for creating accessible documents listed in the service portal. Images must always be provided with alternative text. Instructions for creating alternative text can be found here.
